Club Notes – January 23rd 2017

January 23rd, 2017 | Uncategorized

This Sunday sees the Juvenile presentation for 2016 taking place and covering all from U10, U12 through to minor. Starting at 2pm in the Saul Centre, everyone is invited along to recognise the successes of last year and also the opportunity to renew membership for the upcoming season. Registration will run through to 4pm and club draw tickets are still on sale – last chance. This remains a fantastic source of financing for the club as well as a significant benefit to the county plus of course some great prizes on offer. We would like to thank all those that have renewed their draw tickets to date and all new entrants. All welcome to come along.
On the playing side, the club has swung into action for 2017 with both the senior men (under the new management team of Donnan Ritchie,Ronan McCartan and Philip Kinsella) and the senior ladies (with Brian Jennings and Irene Fitzsimons) successfully starting their training build ups last week with great turnouts. Managements and start dates for all of the other teams will be finalised soon.
Congrats to Callum Fitzsimmons, Jack Hazzard, Daniel Napier and Jamie Morgan on being selected for the Down Minor Football provisional panel. Well done lads
East Down Scor Sinsear Semi-finals are on the horizon also with 2 great nights scheduled for Fri, 3rd Feb & Sun, 5th Feb – all hoping to start on the same path to glory as our Ballad Group last year. More next week.
Congratulations to Mayobridge Scor-an-nOg Ballad Group and to Glasdrumman solo singer,  Niamh McDowell on their fantastic successes in the Ulster final. We wish them the best of luck as they go for the All-Ireland titles on Feb 11th at Belfast’s Waterfront hall.
The club expresses deepest condolences to the McGrady family on the sad passing last week of Malachy (MB) – father to club member Declan and former player Mal. Go ndéana Dia trócaire ar a anam dílis
